Fans joke Man Utd goalmouth scramble is something out of ‘Sunday league’ as Savage says ‘What on earth is going on!?’

FOOTIE fans likened a goalmouth scramble in Manchester United's Europa League clash with Sevilla to 'Sunday league' football.

The Red Devils travelled to the Ramon Sanchez Pijuan stadium on Thursday night looking to progress to the semi-finals of the tournament.

But they were under the cosh for large portions of the second leg of their quarter-final tie - which they ended up losing 5-2 on aggregate.

And a scramble in front of David de Gea's goal in the 51st minute epitomised how badly United defended on the night.

A blocked header from Youssef En-Nesyri sparked pandemonium inside United's six-yard box - with Lucas Ocampos having a shot blocked on the line.

Two more Sevilla players dived in to try and bundle the ball home but were met with fierce resistance on the line from Diogo Dalot.

And United eventually managed to clear their lines through Casemiro - although it wasn't long before they were back under pressure.

Fans watching the game couldn't quite believe their eyes, with one saying: "What an absolute shambles."

Another said: "Shocking, Sunday league stuff!"

One remarked: "Defence filled with clowns who look like they are playing footie for the first time in their entire lives!"

SunSport understands United stars are desperate for the Glazer family to sell up to end the negative atmosphere and boost their squad with world-class signings. United fans sang about signing Kane in their 2-2 draw at Spurs on Thursday — after their boss Ten Hag had called him “a great player and personality”. And now Ten Hag says:  “Everyone knows and it is not a secret that long-term and over a whole season we had a shortage of No9s. “We had the drop out of [Cristiano] Ronaldo, then Anthony Martial was often not available, Jadon Sancho often not available, then you have a shortage of front line players. “We have players who can play the role but definitely we need some offensive players who are impact and qual...

Crystal Palace planning huge summer transfer overhaul with Man Utd and Chelsea stars targeted and Zaha future in doubt...

CRYSTAL PALACE are preparing to spend big in the summer to reboot their long-term plan after sacking Patrick Vieira. Vieira had replaced Hodgson in 2021 as they looked to move to the new level, investing in a number of younger more attacking players. After a successful first season, including an FA Cup semi-final, Vieira failed to kick on in South London and Palace are preparing another push this summer. There have been tensions in the boardroom over the level of spending in recent windows, with some feeling more should have been done to help Vieira in January. However, there is a feeling everyone is close to being on the same page ahead of the summer. And while there is also a new manager to appoint, with Hodgson currently in the gig until the end of the season, a list of targets are being drawn up. The Eagles are keen to bring in new faces along the entire back four, to cover and compete with their existing options. Academy product Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who joined Manchester United in ...
